Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Stain Removal Guide ("we", "us", or "our") handles your information when you use our Android mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
1. Information We Collect
The App itself does not directly collect any personal information. Specifically:
- We do not require account registration or login.
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or location.
- Your stain history, favorites, and custom stains are stored locally on your device only.
- Supplies checklist data and app preferences are stored locally using Android's SharedPreferences and Room database.
However, the App integrates Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect certain data to serve relevant ads. Please see Section 4 for details.
2. Camera Permission
The App requests access to your device's camera for two optional features:
- AI Stain Identifier: Captures a photo of a stain for on-device ML Kit image analysis to suggest the stain type.
- Fabric Label Scanner: Captures a photo of a garment care label for on-device OCR text recognition.
Camera images are processed entirely on your device using Google ML Kit. Photos are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored outside your device. Camera access is only active while you are using these features. You may deny camera permission and still use all other features of the App.
3. On-Device Data Storage
The following data is stored locally on your device and never leaves it:
- Stain treatment history (stain name, fabric, date, outcome)
- Favorited stains
- Custom stains you create
- Supplies checklist state
- Language preference settings
This data can be cleared at any time by clearing the App's data in your device's Settings > Apps > Stain Removal Guide > Clear Data, or by uninstalling the App.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements including banner ads, interstitial ads, native ads, and app open ads. AdMob may collect and use certain data to deliver personalised or non-personalised advertisements, including:
- Advertising ID (Android Advertising ID / GAID)
- Approximate location (country/region level)
- Device information (model, OS version, screen size)
- App usage interactions with advertisements
- IP address
AdMob's data practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy, available at:

You can opt out of personalised advertising by adjusting your device settings:
Settings > Privacy > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalisation
(exact path may vary by Android version).
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or Switzerland, the App will display a consent dialog for ad personalisation as required by GDPR and applicable laws.
5. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party SDKs and services:
- Google AdMob — Advertisement delivery (Privacy Policy)
- Google ML Kit — On-device image classification and text recognition. All processing is local; no data is sent to Google servers by this SDK in on-device mode. (Terms)
6. Notifications
The App may request permission to send local notifications for the Treatment Timer feature (Feature 2). These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device and do not involve any external servers. No notification content is transmitted or logged by us.
7. Home Screen Widget
The App provides an optional home screen widget that displays a random stain tip. Widget data is sourced from the App's local database and does not communicate with any external server.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us at the email below and we will take appropriate action.
9. Data Security
Since all user data is stored locally on your device, its security is protected by your device's own security features (screen lock, encryption, etc.). We do not transmit your personal stain data to any server, so it is not subject to server-side data breaches.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete it. Since we do not collect or store your personal data on our servers, these rights are exercised directly on your device (by clearing app data or uninstalling the App). For advertising data collected by AdMob, please refer to Google's privacy controls and opt-out options.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
12. Offline Functionality
The App is designed to be fully functional without an internet connection. All stain guides, removal steps, and instructions are bundled with the App. An internet connection is only required for advertisement delivery. All core features work entirely offline.
