This Privacy Policy describes how Share Files to Tv ("we", "our", or "the App") handles information when you use our Android application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
1. Information We Collect
Share Files to Tv is designed with privacy in mind. The App operates primarily on your local Wi-Fi network and does not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to external servers.
1.1 Files and Media
The App accesses files, photos, videos, and audio on your device solely for the purpose of transferring them to a TV on your local Wi-Fi network. Files are transferred directly between devices over your local network and are never uploaded to any external server or cloud service.
1.2 Camera
The App uses your device camera only when you choose to scan a QR code for quick pairing with a TV. No images or video from the camera are stored, recorded, or transmitted.
1.3 Network Information
The App accesses Wi-Fi network information to discover TVs on your local network using Network Service Discovery (NSD). No network data is collected or shared externally. No location data is derived from network access.
1.4 Device Information
The App may access basic device identifiers solely for the purpose of serving advertisements through Google AdMob. This information is handled by Google in accordance with their privacy policy.
2. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
- Google AdMob — Used to display advertisements within the App. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization. You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device settings. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Billing — Used to process the optional "Remove Ads" in-app purchase. Purchase information is managed entirely by Google Play. We do not collect or store payment information.
3. Data Storage
All app data, including transfer history, settings, and preferences, is stored locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences. No data is transmitted to external servers. Uninstalling the App will remove all locally stored data.
4. Permissions
The App requests the following permissions, each with a specific purpose:
- Internet & Network Access — Required for local Wi-Fi file transfer and ad serving
- Wi-Fi State — Required to detect network connectivity and discover devices
- Nearby Wi-Fi Devices — Required for Network Service Discovery on Android 13+
- Read Media (Images, Video, Audio) — Required to browse and select files for transfer
- Camera — Used only for QR code scanning (optional feature)
- Notifications — Used to show file transfer progress
- Install Packages — Used on TV to install received APK files (user-initiated only)
Each permission is requested with an explanation dialog before the system prompt, and all permissions are optional for the core functionality of the App.
5. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties. The only data sharing occurs through the Google AdMob SDK as described in Section 2, which is governed by Google's own privacy practices.
7. Data Security
File transfers occur over your local Wi-Fi network using direct TCP connections between devices. Files are not routed through any external server. While we implement reasonable measures for local data transfer, no method of electronic transmission is 100% secure.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Deny any permission request without affecting core app functionality
- Clear all app data through Android Settings
- Opt out of personalized ads through your device's ad settings
- Remove ads entirely through the in-app purchase option
- Uninstall the App at any time, which removes all associated data
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
