PixelText – Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how PixelText – Screenshot Text Editor ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy. Please read this policy carefully before using the App.
By downloading or using PixelText, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
We do not collect or store any personal data on our servers. All image processing happens entirely on your device.
The App may work with the following categories of data:
- Images & Screenshots: Images you load into the App are processed locally on your device using Google ML Kit. Images are never uploaded to any external server.
- Purchase Information: If you purchase the "Remove Ads" upgrade, the transaction is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment details.
- Device Storage: The App requests storage permissions solely to read images you choose and to save exported files to your device.
2. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party SDKs that may collect certain data:
Google AdMob
- Used to display advertisements to free users.
- May collect your advertising ID, IP address, and general device information to serve relevant ads.
- EU/EEA users are shown a consent form in accordance with the IAB TCF standard before any personalised ads are served.

Google ML Kit (Text Recognition)
- Runs entirely on-device. No image data is sent to Google servers.

Google Play Billing
- Handles in-app purchases. We receive only a purchase confirmation token; no payment card details are shared with us.

Google Firebase / Crashlytics (if applicable)
- May collect anonymised crash reports to help us improve stability. No personally identifiable information is included.
3. Advertising & Consent (GDPR / EU Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you will be presented with a consent dialog on first launch, powered by Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). This dialog allows you to choose whether personalised or non-personalised ads are shown.
You can change your consent at any time by going to Settings → Ad Privacy Options within the App.
If you have purchased the "Remove Ads" upgrade, no advertisements are shown and no advertising data is collected through AdMob.
4. Permissions
The App requests only the permissions necessary for its core features:
- READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: To open images from your gallery.
- WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 9 and below): To save exported images to your device.
- CAMERA (optional): To capture a photo directly from the camera if you choose that option.
- INTERNET: Required to load advertisements and process in-app purchases.
- AD_ID (Android 13+): Required by Google AdMob for advertising. Free users are asked for consent before this ID is accessed.
5. Data Retention
All image processing is performed locally on your device and no images are retained by us. Edit history stored by the App (e.g., recently edited images) is kept exclusively on your device and can be deleted at any time via History → Clear All.
Your premium status (whether you have purchased "Remove Ads") is stored in the App's local preferences and verified against Google Play on each launch. No personal data is transmitted to us in this process.
6. Children's Privacy
PixelText is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Data Security
Because all image processing is performed on-device and we do not operate servers that store your personal data, your images and edits are as secure as your own device. We recommend using a screen lock and keeping your device operating system up to date.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you (if any).
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict processing of your data.
- Withdraw consent for personalised advertising at any time via Settings → Ad Privacy Options.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Since we do not collect personal data on our servers, most requests can be satisfied simply by clearing the App's data on your device (Android Settings → Apps → PixelText → Clear Data).
