MD File Editor/Viewer is designed to work primarily on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to our servers.
- Files and Documents: All Markdown files you create, edit, or open are stored locally on your device. We do not access, read, upload, or share the content of your documents.
- App Preferences: Settings such as font size, theme preference, and auto-save interval are stored locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences. This data never leaves your device.
- Recent Files and Favorites: Lists of recently opened files and bookmarked files are stored locally on your device for your convenience. This data is not transmitted externally.
2. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
Google AdMob
We use Google AdMob to display advertisements within the App. AdMob may collect and use certain data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads, including:
- Device identifiers (such as Advertising ID)
- IP address
- General location data (not precise location)
- App usage data and interaction with ads

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting your device's settings under Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization.
3. Permissions
The App may request the following permissions:
- Storage Access (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Required on Android 12 and below to open and read Markdown files from your device. On Android 13 and above, the App uses the Storage Access Framework (SAF) which does not require this permission.
- Internet Access (INTERNET): Required to load and display advertisements via Google AdMob and to load images referenced by URL in Markdown documents.
- Network State (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): Used to check network connectivity before loading advertisements.
4. Data Security
Since all your documents and app data are stored locally on your device, the security of your data depends on your device's security measures. We recommend:
- Using a screen lock (PIN, pattern, fingerprint, or face unlock)
- Keeping your device's operating system up to date
- Regularly backing up your important files
5. Children's Privacy
The App is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The advertisements displayed are configured to comply with applicable regulations.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically for any updates.
7. Your Rights
Since the App does not collect personal data on external servers, there is no personal data for us to delete or provide. All data is stored on your device and can be managed through your device's settings or by uninstalling the App.
