This Privacy Policy describes how Family Tree Creator ("we", "our", or "the App") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application. We are committed to safeguarding your privacy and ensuring transparency in how your data is handled.
1. Information We Collect

- Family Tree Data: Names, dates, places, relationships, photos, notes, and other genealogical information you enter into the app. This data is stored locally on your device.
- Google Account Information: If you choose to sign in with Google for cloud backup or tree sharing features, we collect your Google user ID, display name, and email address solely for authentication and associating your data with your account.
- Cloud Backup Data: When you use the cloud backup feature, your GEDCOM family tree files are uploaded to our server and associated with your Google account for secure storage and retrieval.
- Device Information: Basic device information may be collected by third-party services (such as Google AdMob) for the purpose of serving advertisements.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the core functionality of the app, including creating, viewing, editing, and exporting family trees.
- To enable cloud backup and restore of your family tree data.
- To facilitate sharing of family trees via QR codes and download links.
- To authenticate your identity when using cloud features via Google Sign-In.
- To display advertisements through Google AdMob (unless you have purchased the ad-free version).
3. Data Storage and Security
- All family tree data is primarily stored locally on your device.
- Cloud backups are stored on our secure server and are accessible only through your authenticated Google account.
- Shared trees are stored on our server and accessible via unique download links or QR codes you generate.
- We use reasonable security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services that may collect information:
- Google AdMob: Used to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data. You can review Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
- Google Sign-In: Used for authentication when accessing cloud backup and sharing features. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
- Google Play Billing: Used to process in-app purchases (ad removal). Purchase information is handled by Google Play.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information or family tree data with third parties, except:
- When you explicitly choose to share your family tree via QR code or download link.
- As required by law or to comply with legal processes.
- With third-party service providers (Google AdMob, Google Sign-In) as described above.
6. Your Rights and Choices
- You can use the app without signing in. Cloud backup and sharing features require Google Sign-In.
- You can delete your cloud backups and shared trees at any time from within the app.
- You can remove ads by purchasing the ad-free upgrade within the app.
- You can delete all local data by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.
- You can sign out of your Google account at any time within the app.
- You can request deletion of your account and all associated server data. Visit our Account Deletion Page for instructions.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
