Short summary: Eye Comfort Shield does not collect, sell, or share your personal data. All usage data stays on your device. Ads are served by Google AdMob which may use your Advertising ID. We are fully transparent about everything below.

This Privacy Policy explains how Eye Comfort Shield ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use our Android application. By installing or using the App, you agree to this policy.

2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information Collected by the App
Eye Comfort Shield is designed with privacy first. The App itself does not collect, transmit, or store any personally identifiable information (PII) on external servers.
All data stored by the App is kept locally on your device, including:
- Your chosen filter profiles and colour settings
- Bedtime schedule and break reminder preferences
- Daily and weekly filter usage statistics
- Onboarding completion state
- App preferences and toggles
This local data is stored in Android SharedPreferences and is never uploaded to any server operated by us. It is deleted when you uninstall the App.
2.2 Device Permissions Used
The App requests the following Android permissions and uses them solely for their stated purpose:
- Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) — draws the blue-light filter overlay on top of your screen. No screen content is read or captured.
- Foreground Service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE) — keeps the filter active when the App is in the background.
- Post Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — sends 20-20-20 break reminder notifications. We do not send marketing or promotional notifications.
- Receive Boot Completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — restarts your scheduled filter and reminders automatically after a device reboot.
- Usage Stats Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS) — optionally used to detect which app is in the foreground for per-app filter profiles. This data is processed entirely on-device and never transmitted.
- Schedule Exact Alarm / Use Exact Alarm — schedules bedtime mode and break reminders at precise times.
- Internet (INTERNET) — required solely for displaying ads served by Google AdMob.
- Network State (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) — allows AdMob to check connectivity before loading ads.
3. Google AdMob & Third-Party Advertising
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements (banner ads, native ads, interstitial ads, and app-open ads). Google AdMob may collect and use the following to serve relevant advertisements:
- Android Advertising ID (AAID)
- IP address and approximate location
- Device information (model, OS version, screen size)
- Ad interaction data (views, clicks)
This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us. We do not have access to this data. Google's data practices are governed by the Google Privacy Policy and the Google AdMob Partner Guidelines.
You can opt out of interest-based ads by visiting Android Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation or by resetting your Advertising ID.
4. Children's Privacy
Eye Comfort Shield is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us immediately at toolsappdang@gmail.com and we will take steps to remove such information.
5. Data Security
Since all App data remains on your device, your data is protected by your device's own security mechanisms (PIN, fingerprint, encryption). We do not maintain servers that store your personal data.
6. Data Retention
All locally stored data (profiles, statistics, preferences) is retained until you clear the App's storage or uninstall the App. You can manually reset all settings from within the App.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the data the App stores locally (viewable via Android App Info → Storage)
- Delete all data by clearing App data or uninstalling the App
- Opt out of personalised advertising (see Section 3)
- Contact us with any privacy concerns
8. Third-Party Links and Services
The App may display ads containing links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to read their respective privacy policies.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted within the App's Google Play Store listing and will take effect on the date stated at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
