- Files: The CHM files you open and the PDF/EPUB files generated are processed and stored locally on your device. We do not upload, access, or transmit your files to any server.
- Preferences: App settings such as language preference, font size, night mode, and conversion settings are stored locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences. This data never leaves your device.
- Recent Files: The list of recently opened files is stored locally on your device for your convenience. This data is not shared with any third party.
- Bookmarks: Bookmarks you create within CHM documents are stored locally on your device.
2. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
- Google AdMob: We use Google AdMob to display advertisements within the App. AdMob may collect certain information automatically, including your device's advertising identifier, IP address, and general location data, to serve personalized or non-personalized ads. You may opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting your device's ad settings:
- On Android: Go to Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization
3. Permissions
The App requests the following permissions:
- Storage Access: To open CHM files from your device and save converted PDF/EPUB files to your Downloads folder.
- Notifications: To show conversion progress and completion notifications (Android 13+). This permission is optional and can be denied without affecting core functionality.
- Internet Access: Required solely for loading advertisements via Google AdMob. No user data or files are transmitted over the internet.
4. Data Storage and Security
All user data, including files, preferences, bookmarks, and recent file history, is stored locally on your device. We do not operate any servers that store user data. Converted files are saved to your device's internal storage or Downloads folder as you choose.
5. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it. You can:
- Clear recent files history from within the App
- Delete converted files from your device at any time
- Clear all App data through your device's Settings > Apps > CHM to PDF Converter > Clear Data
- Uninstall the App to remove all associated data from your device
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any updates. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
