📋Introduction

Thank you for using Alt Text Generator ("the App", "we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our Android application. By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

      We are committed to protecting your privacy. Alt Text Generator processes images
      entirely on your device using on-device machine learning models.
      Your images are never uploaded to any server.
    

📦Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Images you select or capture: Processed locally on your device using Google ML Kit (on-device models). Images are never transmitted to external servers by us.
Generated alt text results: Stored locally in an encrypted Room database on your device as part of the History feature.
App preferences: Settings such as confidence threshold, default tone, output language, and dark mode preference — stored locally via SharedPreferences.
Advertising data (via Google AdMob): The App uses Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data as described in Google's privacy policy. See the Advertising section below for full details.

⚙️How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected solely to:

Generate accurate, AI-powered alt text descriptions for your images
Display your generation history locally on your device
Remember your personal preferences across app sessions
Display relevant advertisements through Google AdMob
Improve app functionality and fix issues

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

🔒On-Device Processing

All image analysis — including Image Labeling, Object Detection, OCR (Text Recognition), and Language Translation — is performed using Google ML Kit's on-device APIs. This means:

Your images are processed entirely on your device
No image data is transmitted to our servers
ML model files may be downloaded from Google servers when first used, but image processing remains local
Results are stored only in your device's local database

🔗Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

Google ML Kit — on-device machine learning for image analysis and translation. ML Kit Terms
Google AdMob — advertising platform that may collect device and usage data. Google Privacy Policy
Google Play Services — required for AdMob and other Google integrations.

📢Advertising (Google AdMob)

We use Google AdMob to serve banner ads, interstitial ads, native ads, and app open ads within the App. AdMob is a Google product and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

AdMob may collect and use the following for ad serving and personalization:

Advertising ID (Google Advertising ID / GAID)
App usage and interaction data
Device information (model, OS version)
Approximate location (country/region level)

      You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time through your device settings:

🛡️App Permissions

The App requests the following device permissions:

Camera — to capture photos directly within the App for alt text generation. Used only when you explicitly tap the camera button.
Read Media Images / Storage — to access images from your gallery for processing. Images are read locally and never uploaded.
Internet — required for downloading ML translation models and loading ads.

🗂️Data Retention & Deletion

All data generated by the App (history entries, preferences) is stored locally on your device.

History entries — retained until you delete individual items or clear all history via the History screen or Settings.
Preferences — retained until you uninstall the App or reset app data through Android device settings.
Uninstall — uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data permanently.

👶Children's Privacy

Alt Text Generator is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through the App, please contact us immediately so we can take appropriate action.

🔐Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information processed by the App. Since all image processing is on-device and no sensitive data is transmitted to our servers, your data remains under the security protections provided by your Android device and operating system.

We recommend keeping your Android device updated and using a screen lock to prevent unauthorized access.

📝Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App or on our app listing page. The "Effective Date" at the top of this policy will be updated accordingly. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
